Departure of EMRC CEO Marcus Geisler

The EMRC, a leader in waste management and resource recovery, announces the departure of CEO Marcus Geisler after five years of dedicated service. Under Mr Geisler’s leadership, the EMRC has made significant strides in implementing innovative resource recovery initiatives, contributing to a more sustainable and circular future. The entire EMRC team bid farewell to Mr Geisler last week, a visionary leader who has steered the company through remarkable growth and success.

 “We are immensely grateful for Marcus Geisler's vision and commitment,” said Cr Filomena Piffaretti, Chairperson of the Council. “His efforts have positioned the EMRC as a pioneer in the industry.”

Over the past four decades, Marcus has made significant contributions across various frontiers, including people development, organisational performance, innovation, and initiating large scale concepts. His career spans the private sector, state and local government, as well as academia. Marcus will now focus on a new venture, leading a family vineyard in the Bickley Valley.

During his tenure at the EMRC, Marcus Geisler exemplified unwavering commitment, strategic foresight, and a passion for circular economy and innovation in the EMRC Region. Under his direction, the Council achieved unprecedented milestones such as diversification and significant revenue growth, developed and delivered an EMRC FOGO strategy, expanded the EMRC market presence, delivered the Hazelmere Waste Transfer station, moved towards commissioning the Circular Energy Recovery plant and fostered a culture of excellence. He also championed employee development, diversity, and community engagement.

Cr Piffaretti continued “As he embarks on this new chapter of his life, we extend our best wishes for his future endeavours. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for his unwavering dedication. Marcus’ leadership has been a source of inspiration for all of us, and we are confident that his legacy will continue to have a lasting impact within the EMRC.”

Marcus Geisler will be succeeded by Matthew MacPherson, who will continue to deliver waste management services, drive circular economy-based initiatives and sustainable benefits for the region.
